NJM Consultants - team

Neil Moore - Technical

Neil started his career manufacturing Printed Circuit Boards improving the quality, reducing scrap rates and increasing profitability for the companies he worked with. It was during this time he was introduced to computers and the whole new world of IT and, at that time, the fledgling INTERNET. His first websites were for small mining plc companies where he was animating their logos to download rapidly through a 28.8k Modem (No broadband in those days!). E-commerce sites quickly followed.

Leaving manufacturing he started and grew his previous company Gopher Systems Ltd to a leading “award winning” website company based in Wiltshire. Amongst the 250+ websites developed were sites for on demand video streaming (pre BBC and ITV), including full banner advertising integration. Covering a vast spectrum of industries sectors companies such as African Eagle PLC, Westmill Foods, Marlborough Summer School were included on the client list. Since Gopher, NJM Consultants has continued to service a large selection of those companies.

In addition Neil has followed his passion for photography and has created a quickly growing reputation for a large spectrum of commercial photography including external/interior architectural, industrial, product, fashion, marine and corporate commissions. These he handles through his sister company Moore Photographics.

Jasper Williams - Creative

Jasper’s experience is purely creative having graduated in Graphic Design in Coventry. His design background is in the fields of Packaging Design and Brand Identity.

Working for major design companies gave him the opportunity to work with some big brands such as: Domestos, Sanatogen, Carlsberg and Marmite to name a few. After leaving Holmes & Marchant, Europe's largest design group at the time Jasper became the Creative Director for an Internet Services company where he taught "techies" all about the values of design before setting up his own business.

More recently Jasper has combined his Branding and Graphic Design skills with Website Design and also a great deal of Point of Sale, for the likes of Mothercare, Maidenhead Aquatics, Systemagic and Bath Lodge Castle.

Alec Carmichael - Web Stylist

Neil and Alec first started working together on websites whilst at Gopher Systems Ltd in 2001, with Alec creating designs for hundreds of websites we created, including new brand designs (logos, stationery, flyers etc.).

Since those heady days Alec has worked with many other design and web agencies from within the UK and over the Atlantic in the USA. His strong sense of design compliments and moves forward their own in-house designers, offering designs that wouldn't have been achieved otherwise.

In addition to web projects Alec has worked on many diverse print projects, specialising recently on album and video covers for various bands' CDs and DVDs. I'm sure being an exceptional guitarist helps. He also works with Neil on various photography projects through Moore Photographics.

Paul Paradise - Web Developer

Paul has been programming and building websites since the age of 15 although he didn't get serious until he left school.

His fluency in PHP, MySQL & Javascript allows him to create anything from the simple brochure website through to the most complex e-commerce website projects. Turning design into reality.

Paul has also developed his own Content Management System (CMS) which is scalable, mobile friendly and works with all types of website designs. This system is being used by many websites, being robust and reliable and future proof.

Over the years he has created and built many websites and is a very understated web programmer.

Alan Damper - Programming Architect

Like Neil, Alan also started off his career in electronics creating some of the earliest fire alarm systems integrated into complex building management systems. This was to be his foundation into programming.

Spotting a niche in the market he {{changed direction and}} developed ForceLink, a pre-internet solution for the Police Force. Through early telephone linking, the system allowed the police to electronically transfer pictures throughout the police stations within their jurisdiction. These were then displayed through monitors so that the constable would now who to look out for.

The robust programming skills and techniques developed are now used to create bespoke PC systems that integrate seamlessly to the realm of the internet. These include websites for “an online cruise package comparison site”; “a comprehensive on-line event management system” and even “an online gun sales website allowing the dealers to automatically upload from their Epos systems. An automated banner advertisement solution was also included to generate further revenue for the client.”

Alan detests seeing other programmers sloppy and un-commented code!

Steve Bloomer - Microsoft Specialist

Over 25 years ago Steve cut his teeth in the banking world, developing software systems for most merchant banks around the world (still being used today).

Having been part of the team that gre the comapany to over a thousand strong, then being bought out by an American blue chip company he decided that the life of CEO did not satisfy his creative and development needs.

Fortunately for us he retired from his previous life and has found fun again developing Microsoft integration solutions, including Sage and Quickbooks.

Steve believes very strongly that a sound database design provides a robust platform to build stable applications in the style that Alan propounds.

Geoff Oades - Business Management

Geoff left school and began an apprenticeship at the National Gas Turbine Establishment. A varied career as a development engineer followed. Starting with RF and Induction heating machines followed by Inertial Navigation systems for the Harrier, airborne Data Acquisition Systems now commonly called crash recorders. Ampex was where Geoff met his first computer and his task was to interface Ampex high speed tape units to Marconi Myriad computers.

A similar role followed at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) interfacing customers equipment to DEC computers. Promotion to management followed involving the setting up of a specialist manufacturing unit in Reading. Later he transferred to the USA for 3 years to manage a larger but similar manufacturing unit in New Hampshire. Returning to the UK as a Project Manager, he was responsible for the successful introduction of various peripherals including a very profitable line printer. Final position at DEC was as a World Wide Product Manager for a successful range of X400 based electronic messaging products. Also became a member of the management team for the European Electronic Messaging Association (EEMA).

Successful financial management and on time delivery were key responsibilities in both the Project and Product management roles. Product Managers were responsible for the Business Plan for their product family. This included understanding the market, forecasting sales, ensuring efficient manufacturing etc to meet profitability targets.

Redundancy followed the take over of the company by Hewlett Packard and later Geoff joined Neil and has provided Business and Financial support for both Gopher Systems and NJM Consultants.
